Terms of Service

Sundown is a menu-bar app that schedules the warmth and brightness of your Mac’s display. It is a display utility, not a medical device — nothing about Sundown, this website, or our marketing diagnoses, treats, or prevents any condition.

• Monthly — $4.99 per month.
• Annual — $39 per year.
• Lifetime — $79, paid once, including future updates to the app.

All prices are in US dollars. Payment is processed by Stripe. We may change prices for new purchases at any time; a price change to an existing subscription will only take effect at a subsequent renewal, and we will notify you before it does.

Monthly and annual plans start with a free trial — 7 days, unless a longer trial is expressly offered at checkout. You provide a payment method up front, and the first charge happens automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. Canceling during the trial costs nothing.

The lifetime plan has no trial: it is a one-time purchase and your payment method is charged immediately.

Trials are limited to one per machine. We use rate limits and fraud checks to keep the trial honest, and we may refuse or revoke trials that abuse them.

Subscriptions renew automatically — monthly plans each month, annual plans each year — until you cancel. To cancel or update your payment method, go to trysundown.com/manage, enter your purchase email, and we’ll email you a secure link to your Stripe billing portal. Cancellation stops future charges; your access continues to the end of the period you already paid for.

When you buy Sundown you receive a personal license key in the format SUNDOWN-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, delivered to your email. Entering it in the app activates Sundown on your Mac.

• One machine per license. On first activation, your license is bound to your Mac’s hardware identifier. Activating the same key on a different machine is rejected automatically.
• New Mac? Email support@trysundown.com and we’ll move your license to your new machine.
• Don’t share or resell keys. Your license is for you. Publishing, sharing, or reselling license keys — or circumventing the licensing system — is prohibited and grounds for revocation.

Sundown and its code, design, and branding remain our property. Your license is a right to use the app, not a transfer of ownership, and it is non-exclusive and non-transferable except as described above.

We want Sundown to earn its keep. If it isn’t working out for you, email hello@trysundown.com and tell us what happened — we handle refund requests case by case and we aim to be fair about it. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable statutory rights you have as a consumer, including any withdrawal or refund rights under EU or UK consumer law where they apply.

The app checks for and installs updates from our servers. All plans, including lifetime, receive updates while we offer them. Some features — license validation, trials, referrals — depend on our online services. We work to keep them available but do not promise uninterrupted operation; the app’s core display features run locally and keep working during outages.

Don’t abuse the trial, referral, or affiliate systems; don’t attempt to bypass licensing; don’t use the website or app to break the law. We may suspend or revoke licenses obtained or used fraudulently, including purchases reversed by chargeback after the license was delivered.

Sundown is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or fit for any particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of these terms or your use of Sundown is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, and nothing limits the statutory rights of consumers.

We may update these terms as Sundown evolves. Changes are posted on this page with a revised date at the top; material changes affecting existing subscribers will be announced by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Sundown after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
